I have 2. I repeat 2 Glowforge Pro. One is stuck on focusing, and the other has a yellow light. I can’t get support to help me; they just have these people who walk you through troubleshooting, but have no successful results. Then they tell me that they can give me a refurbished one for only $1700. But mind you, I have already done that twice before. I clean them just like they show, and I leave them unplugged for at least 24 hours to ensure nothing goes wrong. I print from 7 am to about 9 pm. Am I just using the machine too much? Or are they not built for that? Has anyone had better results with a different laser printer? Because I am not at all happy with Glowforge.
14 Hours a day is alot for a hobby machine such as a Glowforge! I have a Glowforge, but I also have a Thunder Nova 24 that will and can run that long everyday of the week. I often run the Thunder 8-10 hours a day for several days a week when I am busy, but I do have to take the time to shut down and do complete cleaning before starting up again every so often!
The Thunder Nova 24 do you like that laser? Is it easy to use? Also, do you mind me asking how much it costs?
The latest price is $6180 for the machine I have! I have had mine for 3 years now and I think it cost me about $5600 back then. You can view their machines and prices at Thunder USA. I use Lightburn software for the Thunder and Inkscape for the Glowforge. They both function the same way, but I think Lightburn has more features and is easier to use. The thunder is also easier to clean and keep clean than the Glowforge.
There are many brands of commercial quality laser. Trotec, xTool, OMTech, Boss come to mind, but many more. The Glowforge is NOT a commercial machine.
Thank you! I got the Glowforge because it was said to be great for small businesses. It was easy to use and had excellent customer support. I didn’t think my small little business would take off like it did. I have known that I would need to get a better machine eventually. So thank you so much for the recommendation. I have been pretty lost on where to start.
