Help restoring my Glowforge Pro

My property was unexpectedly flooded and my whole shop was under 5+ feet of water, full of silt and everything. I was unable to save my laser before it got inundated. It looks like the tube is intact. What is the best way to clean it out, dry it out, and what do I need to check to before I try to restart it?

Thank you,

I am sorry this happened to you!

I don’t have any personal experience with drowned electronics, but I suspect you will need to disassemble most of the machine to clean out the dirt and dry out the connections. If you have any kind of insurance I would explore replacement options.

Was it salt water or fresh water? I don’t know about a drowned laser, but I know for cars it makes a difference. Salt water is corrosive, so I’d imagine you’d have to take extra care about the electrical connections and cleaning. Was it plugged in when it happened?

Maybe @MyDogsThinkImCrazy might have an idea? She’s an expert, so I’d listen to anything she’d have to say on it.

It was fresh water, lots of snow melt. power was off, I flipped the breaker before the water got too high. The predictions were for much less water, so I thought we would be safe.
