Help! Two Glowforge Aura’s Down… Help!

Let me start by saying I have 2 Glowforge Auras and both are having issues…

Machine #1: Last Monday, I had an “Air Assist” Error. I turned everything off, unplugged the machine and cleaned the middle and side rails, wiped the magnetic connections, wiped the lid and lens and tried again. Same results, this time I rechecked everything, unplugged the laser checked the connectors, plugged it back in, and rechecked the magnetic connection, and same issue. I then unplugged everything, wiped everything again, plugged everything back in. No change. Frusterated I just continued to use my other machine.

Machine #2: Friday, while working on my Glowforge Aura I kept getting “We’re experiencing unexpected issues.” The machine would continue to complete my project and finish. I unplugged and thoroughly cleaned the side and middle rails and wiped the plastic ribbon. Then, I cleaned the inside of the lens and, moved on to another project. It cut but then it did the same. This time I wiped the rails then blew out the laser, both fans, the external fans vents, and the inside of my machine to ensure everything was free of lingering particles. This time, it yielded different results. Not only did it give that same “…unexpected issues” but, it also said “overheating,” frozen would print then freeze but, completed my project. I must add, that not only do I vent directly out of my building with a straight, 8-inch metal dryer-safe vent, but these cuts were made at night, to avoid the heat to complete my orders. This time I returned the next day out of desperation, I searched for help and found a few people had had similar issues. So, I turned everything off, and reset my router, checked my computer for updates. I found, Google Chrome needed to update my browser. So, having updated my browser, plugged everything back in and restarted my computer. But now it says “offline.” I then went back to the support page. I went through the set-up page and tried to “hard reset” the machine but, the teal light will not stay lit. It flashes, restarts my machine, the fan turns on and the button turns yellow.

So… having exhausted any ideas, I returned to Machine #1, It went through the internet set-up. I was able to re-connect this machine. It powered on, went through the works, set focus, started to print, and then shut off.

I have two Aura’s and neither work. I need help please…

Sincerely, Lynda Johnson

Just to make sure - have you also reached out to actual Support with your issues (phone, Discord, or email) - we’re all just owners here (though staff members sometimes show up, there’s no guarantee).

Sadly we have far less knowledge about the Auras as they are much newer machines. There isn’t an Air Assist on the Aura though…so it’s very weird that you got that error!

Hopefully someone else will chime in with some ideas - but when you hear back from Support, let us know what they said!

Yes, I sent it to support as well. That’s what I thought. Thank you for responding.

UPDATE: I called Support this morning, Laser #1, has a problem that isn’t repairable remotely so it is being replaced completely with a new machine. However, Laser #2, appeas to be in limbo. The Support Tech stated she will be reviewing the requested pictures and will respond via email. So for now, there is no new information.
