I’ve been updating the inkscape extension for living hinges so you can now generate hinges in multiple formats. The standard “lines” hinges are optimised for speed on the GF. The new format hinges include diamond, hexagon and square spirals. The diamonds when spaced right will let you turn corners! The spirals flex in two directions.

Does this give us the possibility of compound curved surfaces ?
I’d love to be able to produce a ‘domed’ surface, say 12" radius, out of 1/8" plywood !

It certainly “domes” on the little tests I’ve done, I don’t know whether you could get a proper hemisphere out of it - my cuts haven’t been big enough for that.

I use the one by your thumbnail for my pen boxes. Fashioned it myself from a sample. Would love to have access to a generator.

I have some pens I made and was considering making a box. Any tips?

Thank you so much. I never did get back to the living hinge extension that worked with .91 and figure out what was the problem. Don’t grok python.
