How BIG are steel balls for Deluxe Puzzle Maze (RetroRob)

Need to order metal balls for the Deluxe Puzzle Maze (by RetroRob)… but not sure what is best size. I’m thinking 1mm, but maybe larger. Anyone know? Thanks!!

Not in the instructions. I used No 8 bird shot 2.10 mm or 0.0830

Thanks! Do you think 3mm is too large? Looking at some ’ 304 Stainless Steel G100 Precision’ balls on Amazon. Avail sizes: 1mm, 1.5mm, 3mm, 3.5mm.
