So I typically check if I’m looking for something specific, typically for my tastes I’ll end up building it myself but not always.

Agree! I check out the catalog to see what is out there and sometimes for inspiration, but seldom cut anything from the catalog.
Also I thing the catalog audience are the people who cannot make their own designs or do not have the time to do so, which pretty much is the opposite of the regular users here.

Except me! I am regular, and I do have the time, but I am just not good at designing.
