Haven’t that this problem. I just created a blank project in Illustrator, Set the fill to none, stroke to red, created a rectangle but the svg code does not say fill none.

Is your stroke path set to center line? Anything besides center stroke alignment gets expanded into shapes.

Hmm, it is now. But haven’t had that problem before.
