I am about to start up a little side company with a few designs I made on Illustrator. I had a friend create a logo for me and the image has a crazy amount of layers and paths. Can anyone give me a pointer or two on how to clean up the image so I can print out the design on my GF? I just want the outline of the whole thing and I plan on painting it with watercolors so it looks like the image

First start with a copy. 
You can try selection one of the objects (all the layers) and use the unite function in the pathfinder tool.
