Ok so I’ve finally figured out how to make the images lighter, however, they are not coming out clear. I’m still using the “sample” materials sent with the machine so I’ve tried the clear acrylic, bass board and draft board. The one thing I can say is that I am simply uploading pictures from my photo gallery on my computer- am I supposed to use a graphic program (photoshop, illustrator, etc) or it doesnt matter?
Yes.
There are tutorials on this for both Gimp and Photoshop, immediately following the basic tutorials on how to use your machine, and many more threads created by owners.
