One word of caution - keep your previous version. I always do that, with Mac it’s easy, you just right-click to open a file and choose Open With. Not sure about other platforms. I’ve already found a few bugs on Mac.

Huh, the visual refresh is nice. Much more polished.

Oh and the rulers are way better now. So far thumbs up.

Those node delete tweaks look really handy. It feels like every time I delete a node I have to set it to straight line!

The shape builder looks really cool too.

And if the font organiser is automatic that would be brilliant, but I think it is manual

Meanwhile everytime I delete a node I have to set the neighbors to curves. The old way wasn’t good for either use case… the default was making them approximate curves bounded by cusp nodes, not good for straight segments or curved shapes. I’m frequently cleaning up janky traces, making the curves better.

One change I am not super fond of is the new snapping sidebar. I want those buttons always visible, not sure how to set that.
EDIT: Aha, here we go, prefs → toolbars → permanent snap bar

Also don’t love the smaller palette color swatches.
EDIT: aha, you can change that by clicking “configure” in the palette hamburger menu in the lower right.

Definitely a step forward for designers. More so for those working towards prints but I still see features that will be useful for cut/engrave tasks.

Certainly better value than GF Premium, no?

I will have to try this! My HP died and so I switched to my mac. For some reason inkscape crashed if I try and return to it after my mac has been asleep. I have to restart the app to get it to work. Hopefully this fixes it.
