I’m looking to buy an I-pad to use on my glowforge. I am just wondering what is the best ipad to get and it has to be able to work with the Apple pencil
If you mean one for using design apps an IPad Pro is the best option. I have one from the previous releases I bought during Amazon’s Prime Day last year and love it. You can check out Apple’s refurbished options as well. Just make sure to get enough memory if you plan to store things on the iPad vs in the cloud. I use Affinity Designer for most of my design work On my iPad.
If you are are talking about just using the GF Browser UI, any tablet will work.
Actually, one of the non pro iPad models might also work for you. I bought a new one a few months ago for $249 (WiFi only, 32gb) that works with the original Apple Pencil just fine, so you would be able to use drawing apps. It was this one:

They are a bit more now than what I paid, but they do go on sale from time to time.
