My favorite car of all time! Now that I can afford one, I’m too old to be able to fold myself in one :joy:

My dream car was always the XKE. Since I couldn’t afford one, I did manage to buy a brand new, gorgeous yellow Pontiac Fiero in 1988. For me at the time, it was the next best thing and I drove it for 20 years.

The University of Miami had several people who had them, and my mechanic specialized in repairing them. The timing chains took almost constant attention. They looked alot less enticing after that.

I used to hear things like that, too. There’s a big difference between being able to afford to buy one…and being able to afford to keep one. Several years ago, we bought a Segway. It was so fascinating and SO much fun. We found out soon enough though that when something happened (like my husband crashing into a curb)…that it was darned expensive to have repaired. The batteries alone (2 of them) cost $1,800 apiece. We finally got to the point that we left it with the dealer for sale on consignment. But wow…what fun we had in the meantime.

It is probably similar with their power chair. Even back then the idea of standing that much made my knees hurt but a power chair that could do stairs to the second floor or wandering down a beach sounded great. I would not be surprised if those batteries were not lithium as that might be the price of lithium batteries at that time.

While at the school there was a 1956 Ferrari for sale for around $2k in very good condition, but I figured out that the first part needing to be replaced would likely cost the same. Instead I had a Volvo that was built like a rock and only slight changes to the design since 1925, primarily to do with technology. I really wish they or any other company would have that ethos now.

I always wanted a Segway - I still do. I thought it would be great for golf. It was used for that in Japan at some point. I rode around Chicago one rainy morning with a very small Segway group and had an absolute blast.

I had a silver one for 20 years. I sold it last year when we moved to NC. :slightly_frowning_face:
