That trade in deal is wonderful for makers who are looking to upgrade. Good on you for doing it again
I agree with @deirdrebeth great idea on the upgrade trade-ins!!
it’s reminiscent of an old music equipment store in the DC area called Venemans. You used to be able to trade in a guitar you bought there and they would give you the full value you paid for it originally toward another guitar in their store. I started with a basic Seagull acoustic, then traded up to a low end ovation, then to a high end ovation acoustic electric, and then to the takamine santa fe dreadnaught i’ve been playing for the past 30 years. probably would not have been able to do all of that if i had to sell at a loss privately and then buy new.
one more instrument engraved. now off to my builder friend to put it all together and send to the guy who commissioned a bass. not necessarily loving the design he wanted, but hey, it’s a commission.
oh, and one more on the way. we struck a partnership with tracii guns of LA guns. we already sent him one guitar (cratecaster with a molson crate face to it) and we’re going to build another custom to go with their new album name/cover (leopard skin). he’ll do a VIP meet and greet that includes getting a custom made guitar that he plays on stage (molson crate caster first, then the leopard skin).
