Forgive me in advance for my ‘first-world problem’ rant below.
This is the third time I have been within 3 days of my ‘estimated shipping’ email to have it delayed over a week. So, that brings the total number of delays to something around 14. Initially promised in 2016, then numerous times throughout 2017, now updated to 2018. Knowing my luck, GlowForge will pull a Plastc on me and file for bankruptcy the day I receive my ‘shipping estimate’ email.
I have been looking forward to, and singing the praises of Glowforge since November of 2015, but no longer. I do not even mention that I have pre-ordered one whereas before, I would tell anyone everything about it. I have stopped visiting the forums too as doing so is just a depressing reminder that I STILL do not have a GF.
The coup de grâce is that I have lost all of the passion and fervor I once had for GlowForge. I feel like I have been defending a cheating girlfriend for years only to find out she was a cheating girlfriend.
If never receiving a GF is my biggest problem, so be it. I am so thankful for what I do have. With that being said, it still sucks. Hopefully, my attitude will change once/if I receive my Glowforge.
We understand. The whole journey has been an exercise in frustration and patience.
The adjustment in prediction is a reflection of updated stats in production that are affected by many dynamics, not someone arbitrarily deciding to postpone delivery. My own date jumped later three times into January, only to shorten to actually getting delivered before Christmas.
The anticipation and excitement as it approaches comes crashing down as we see the date move. I found it much easier on my state of mind not to invest too much emotionally in what is nothing more than the company’s best prediction of the future. It was enough to know it is coming. After a two year wait, seeing them ship in greater numbers assured me the wait was nearly over.
What I can tell you is for me, the journey has been worth every second and every dime. The angst of the saga is a fading memory.
Know how hard the wait is! It’s hard to know a special event just isn’t going to happen yet.
We were disappointed by delays also … BUT, we love that things were advanced while we were in wait. It is so worth the wait.
Take the time to prepare for your work area, material storage, and search the forum for material notes on items you want to be ready to roll on when you get it.
