Does anyone have a design to cut the strips to build a kumiko grid. I don’t want to laser cut the complete design (I want to do that manually). I am looking to cut the strips with the correct half lap so I can build the grid.
I’m guessing what you’re asking about is cutting the little divots that allow the strips to nest, like a few minutes into the top video here:
If yes, you might be able to do it with an engrave, or using @evansd2’s Concentric Engraving Inkscape plugin for a much faster engrave.
You’ll have to make a jig so you can pull the strips out and flip them over.
I think it’s doable, but you’d be the first that I know of doing it on here
Looking forward to seeing your attempts - even if they’re failures! But hopefully successes
I never posted the results, and I lost that home in bankruptcy. But it was a very gratifying exercise to figure out how to make this in Inkscape, and cut with the laser. I ended up using it as doors on a medicine cabinet, Darn I wish I’d gotten that out of the house before I lost it.
