Laser tube broke

I was creating the votive candle holder and it was not cutting completely through, so I reran the program to cut it again. When I did so, at about 2:30 minutes, the interior tube in the laser burst. The exterior tube remained intact.

Previously I had problems with the unit overheading despite it being vented outside. I would wait a couple of hours and then it generally would work.

I have several questions:

Is the unit a danger to me staying in my house?
Will I need to send the glowforge back to the factory?
Any idea why this happened? In this case I got no warning that the it was overheating. My unit is 3 months old and I have used it less than 10 times.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Ken

Go ahead and unplug it now and wait to hear from support.

Sorry.

No, the tube is filled with common gasses in quantities that should be no worry.

Sadly yes, staff will be getting with you hopefully soon and give you instructions.

Sorry, no.

Will you have to send it back?

Thank you very much for your help.

Oh no! I’m so sorry that your laser tube shattered. We’ll need to replace your unit.

I’ve followed up in an email with more details on how to proceed and we’re working on it there, so I’m going to close this topic.
