Learning acrylic sheets

When using the laser for acrylic, do I need extruded or cast acrylic?

Some acrylic I can lay right on the crumb tray and when I cut it, it is smooth as a babies butt. None of the reflected light from the crumb tray affect it.

Other acrylic sheets I can’t get a smooth, cut, no matter what I do

It is recommended that we use cast acrylic which may cut better…but for sure does engrave better. Extruded gets all sort of melty on the edges when you cut it and engraving leaves much to be desired.

You can use either cast or extruded. Almost all mirrored acrylic is extruded. The cast engraves better in my opinion and extruded smells worse.
