Lessons learned after two weeks

Two weeks ago, my GlowForge arrived here in Belgium. Installing it went quite well, and lasering the first examples also went without problems. However, after a week my GF kept “hanging” at startup on the focussing-step. Also the camera was still show the previous material inside the GF.
So I started reading all the FAQ’s, troubleshooting tips and here in the forum.
Sometimes the GF got out of the “Focussing”-step and even could laser one job. But after that, it kept focussing. Then I realised that the GF does almost everything over the internet, so if the internetconnection isn’t good, then the GF doesn’t work good either.
So I’ve checked my hotspot near the GF wich runs over powerline and found out that the connection wasn’t stable at all. After changing to a better (and stable) connection things started to work a lot better. The GF started up normally and could do all of it calibrations. Only the image of the camera stayed “frozen”.
That was the moment when I’ve had to ask the online suppor for assistance. And about 15 minutes later everything was running perfectly. I must say, the supportpeople at GF are doing a great job !

My conclusion : If you’re having problems with your GF, make sure that your internetconnection is running perfectly !

Always a good lesson to share, this is a pretty common issue. There are a million threads (well ok lots, not a million) in P&S where the answer was “reboot your router or move it”.
