Light for wood box lantern

Hi everyone. I’m looking for a small led light for my wood box lantern. Looking for the following:

  • LED
  • AC POWERED
  • TIMER

I’d like it to be AC powered but come on automatically at yhe same time each night but only stay on for a few hours before turning off again, like some store-bought Christmas decorations do.

Any help locationg is appreciated. Thanks!

Define “small”.

I think you might have more success if you separate the timer aspect from the light source aspect. Something like a programmable timer relay is maybe the way to go.

AC:

That way you’ve got a free hand about the light source and don’t need to find one thing that solves everything.

Perhaps repurpose one from a store bought decoration if you’ve found one that already works the way you like?

I found some 110v LEDs for use that are very low draw and can be on 24/7 without an issue.

There are any number of USB “night lights”, and you could use a cheap AC timer with a regular USB power adapter, with a USB extension cord.

I have a lantern that I have had turned on since I made it in 2021, it uses old old 5V power adapter that I wired permanently to an LED “puck” light designed for 3 AAA batteries, but it stays on 24x7 even thru power outages, as I have it on one of my UPS devices for my internet/TV etc.

You could also get some of those cheap LED strings that come on every 24hrs and stay on for 6hrs or so - I have a red one on a “christmas ball” for outside, I don’t think I’ve ever changed the batteries (although I only use it for a couple of weeks/year, and take the batteries out when I take it in…) You could do the same, find a cheap 5V AC adapter and permanently power it that way. Just stuff the LED string into the lamp - that makes a nice effect as well. They’re all on clearance right now.

There are also many LED AC bulbs you could use - I have a vintage LED lamp in my bedroom that is switched automatically by a WeMO wifi outlet - I have a bunch of those around for various things. Virtually all my “regular” lights are either Hue or Wemo, and turn on/off automatically or by talking to my home automation hub.

I have a set like these… They are AC rechargeable

But I do like the option for flicker effects and timer.
