BTW, I finally found a way to attach the string of 20 LEDs without resorting to Klingon Pain Sticks (hot glue). I had a sheet of scrap PG Cherry veneer with that wonderful 3M adhesive on the back, so I cut out a bunch of 10mm x 15mm rectangles along with some annular ovals a bit larger. The ovals fit over the LEDs and hold them in place and the rectangular tabs take care of wire management. Worked a treat and I didn’t burn myself a single time! Why didn’t I think of this years ago???
Oops, too late. Unfortunately, it’s two pieces sandwiched together with spacers between them. Here’s a drawing similar to my planning document for the wiring.
The first thing I thought of when I saw the drawing (thanks for that, as I was having trouble visualizing it also) was to cut an acrylic layer in thick acrylic, with the wiring pattern cut out, using the acrylic to sandwich the lights between the wood. 3M tape could still be used, but you wouldn’t have to make all the little tabs (because I’m basically too lazy!).
