Go into your software that you used to design this. Go to the layers panel. Select one of the compound paths in the layers. Release the compound path.
You’ll see there are two.
Someone else had the same issue recently and had a similar post.
Hmm, How weird it that. Illustrator showed it as a rectangle. I had to expand it. Then release the compound path. 1st time I’ve seen that happen…

When I open your file Inkscape, the stroke has a fill and no stroke designated. Therefore the Glowforge will cut the outside and the inside of the “stroke” which is really a filled shape as designed.
LOL, chalk it up to operator error I guess.

Hmm, Haven’t that this problem. I just created a blank project in Illustrator, Set the fill to none, stroke to red, created a rectangle but the svg code does not say fill none.

I haven’t had that problem in Illustrator, either.
The Shape Builder tool will do that to you, even for the simplest things.
It seems like the stroke is aligned inside by default now
Can’t find out where to change it…
Wouldn’t the first align stroke be the choice?
Yes, but when I start Illustrator that is what is selected now. Hasn’t been before.

Doesn’t it just stay at what you used last?
Yea, but goes back to other when you open illustrator again…I thought it might stay when I created a new template but nope. Have to reset it…

For me, center aligned stroke is the default when I open AI.
Well, Dang What did I do…
-Mark
Hmm, must be in my template. When I open a 8x11 print it is right… Dang
