I think I need to see a side view. It looks like you slotted wood pieces into the base to mark the minutes. Whew! Nice job!

Nope all just engraved on maple ply so the marks are slightly ‘scuffed’ giving a shadow like appearance, wasn’t intentional, but looks nice
