Glowforge appears at 6:05. I understand why he didn’t, but in theory he could have cut the slot with the laser as well (probably would take multiple passes, but the slot’s dimensions don’t appear to be super critical.)
The simplicity of the GF 
is just about overlooked (unless you think about what he just did).

This is cool. I wonder if you could make it taller and use some vinyl records and make an inlay that says, “now playing” or “playlist”.
Well you can’t laser most (all?) vinyl (and certainly not PVC that most records are made of.) But if you had some other way of precisely cutting the record, the Glowforge could engrave out the recesses for the letters to go in.
