Masking material for raw wood, acrylic, etc

What do you use to mask raw materials to protect from burn residue

I use this stuff from Amazon:

Masking Paper

That is a smoke stain that has been deposited. As long as the surface is sealed, household ammonia will wipe that right off. Without a finish, the dissolved stain may bleed into the wood. Depending on the intricacy of the design, it could be easier/quicker than weeding the mask.

Thank you so much for this information. Just getting to know my new GFA and brand new to
this stuff. Know all about my cricut, but not so much this, yet. Again, Thank You

We were all new at some point. I wandered in here in the same condition 6 years ago. These people helped me learn everything. You just found the best accessory for your new laser.
Which one do you have?

The new Glowforge Aura. Thanks for your kind words. I am sure I will be on here a lot. I just ordered the tape yesterday from Amazon. I was so thankful for the help and the fast response.
