Modifying G/F files

Using the free glowforge Mandala designs it occurred to me that desk stand would be a good option to have on display , to accomplish this part of the cut line must be removed for the stand to be integrated into the design .
Here is the question , is it possible to do this in the glowforge program ? If so …. How ?

Can you be more specific about which Mandala designs you wish to modify? Are they ones in the catalog?

You could not modify the linework that is there, but you could create a rectangle the size you wish the stand to be and then with both rectangle and mandala highlighted create an outline that will go around both. Then if that previous outline is not connected to the rest you could just put it on ignore, and the rectangle can even be deleted without affecting the shape of the outline. If the outermost line is a part of the whole, then you could change it to score or engrave whichever works best.

Or you could just use a different mandala. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you have Glowforge Premium, you can edit a lot of things in the app. I’m not sure specifically what you’re trying to do. I just picked a mandala design at random (Layered Mandala Art | Glowforge) and confirmed that I was able to delete parts of it.

with Premiun you can ungroup the design and delete portions of the design, then regroup and print. Whether this would work for this design depends on how the design was created. I do not believe removing a portion of a line is possible.

Thanks everyone for the input, I think I have a work around … “enter settings” left hand column there are 2 items you can choose the settings for the interior cut outs and the BORDER, select ignore for the border then overlay with lines from the insert shapes tab . I found it easier to have longer lines than needed for alinement then trim them back . fyi … just found you can use the snipping tool to copy the patterns , more on that later .Thanks everyone for the input,
