Mom's pets

I wanted to make something for my mom as a bit of a memorial for her to dogs that have gone over that rainbow bridge.

This is a common result when doing photo engraves. It looks muddy, right? Never fear! Just a bit of 220 grit sandpaper and… instant Mom-ready dog memorial thing. I do hope she likes it.

Wow, Beautiful work. Also thanks for the tip, it really makes a difference.
I´m sure Mom will love it.

Looks great. Did you sand by hand or use mechanical means?

I sanded by hand. I can control the pressure a lot better that way. I didn’t want to go too hard. Just enough to get the whites to show through with detail.

I have found that turning wood over, pounding on the back with a hammer, changes the look considerably just by knocking the black ash out!

I just set up my glowforge today, after doing the 3 starter projects I did a pencil drawing my sister in law did. It looks like your first picture. I can’t wait to go grab some sandpaper tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!

That’s a considerable improvement! I’ll have to give it a try.

Haven’t really had much interest in doing photos on wood … But this is a great tip should I ever need to do so. Glad you posted!
