I have had my Glowforge for several years and have a premium subscription. The issue is, Ive collected so many files over the years that it has become nearly impossible to manage in the Glowforge files in the program (I can literally scroll for 30 minutes and still not reach the end of my files, not to mention waiting for each one to load and be visible on the screen) …… is there a way to download them to a hard drive without having to pull-up and save each one individually? I’m really frustrated and don’t use it too often anymore due to the time needed to see all the files I have.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Happy Christmas, Happy holiday season.
Hello…from your post, I am assuming the files you’ve saved are ones you created yourself and not purchased catalog files? Did you create them in the Glowforge UI or in a separarte design app?
Since you cannot download and save catalog files, that would leave only your own design files. If that is the case, the only way you can download them is to open and save each one individually. If you used a separate design app. I would think you’d still have those designs saved on your own computer.
Happy holidays to you, too.
Thanks so much for your quick reply…. It is a mixture of my files and purchased files. I didn’t really realize how many I have had over the years until it made accessing the storage in my library slow down so much, it has become unusable.
Thanks again!
It is frustrating that we are not able to delete Glowforge files. I export my own files and delete them from the Dashboard which helps a bit. I can organize things better outside of the Dashboard.
You can create your own names in the file system (I have 25, none of the official list). You can have many just for the catalog items, thus making them much easier to find. I have a combined set for all coasters, and also for square ones and round ones, but that is the only multi layer case. There are different files or boxes, lamps, ornaments, earrings, experiments, etc., and so a huge list is cut down to many small ones. I do keep my original files on my hard drive as well, but the size and settings are not there.
One thing that would be a bit frightening is if you for any reason lost your access to premium…in which case your entire collection of files would in line to be deleted.
Sadly, at this point it is unusable to me anyway (takes waaaaay to long to load designs I have in the library, every page is just blank until the graphics download) that is why I was hoping to off load some to make it useable…. But it looks like that canceling my premium account and starting over with just basic is my only option. Thanks for your help.
