My First Christmas Gift Tag

I made a variation of the Gift Tag tutorial. This is my first item carved on my new GF :grinning:

This is done on medium basswood and there are a couple of minor imperfections so maybe I should try the plywood.

Nice custom tag!
Notice how where the letters join, the white spots? That’s because when fills overlap they cancel.
In Inkscape after you “Path>object to path” you select the text, then “Object>ungroup” then “Path>Union”.
If you use outline mode in “View” you can see how the lines overlap and after Union you see how they are joined. :sunglasses:

Nice first tag. Don’t forget to fully weed your items.

What is this weeding you speak of?

Thx @dlkgood. I’m new to this, what’s “fully weed”?

She’s referring to the bit of masking still inside the bells. To weed is to remove masking.

The best way to see the pesky little pieces of masking you missed is to post a pic of it. I always swear I got it all and I never do lol.
