My Glowforge comes on, but is not working

My Glowforge made a weird noise when it started, the printer head would not move and the button is glowing orange. HELP!!! I have sent an email to support…but I have an order due today and was wondering if any of you could help.

Orange is the default “something is blocking communication” error. My first question would be heat as so much of the country is in a heat wave.

Check for a physical blockage too.

You can call Support until 3pm Pacific.

Thanks! The issue did seem to be that it was heating up. I spent over 2 hours with support. Cleaned all the parts, and the camera is still not reading. It keeps showing ‘FOCUSING’ and thats it. This is my second machine and now they are demanding $1,502, plus taxes to ship it and send me a refurbished one!!! This is so infuriating! And there are no certified or otherwise repair techs that I can find. Anyone know any in Tampa, Fl?

The recent announcement from Glowforge identified a repair facility. Wiregrass Technologies. You might contact them. https://www.wiregrassmade.com/

If it was overheating - have the temps gone down in your area significantly? It may be that you need to hold off on printing.

If yes, start from scratch. If the head is not reading have you removed the cable from it and verified that all the contacts are clean and bounce back when you press on them? If no - do that first, then let us know.

They are not “demanding” anything. They’re offering you a quick fix since they can’t figure out over the phone exactly what your machine’s issue is. Of course you can continue trouble shooting, but your original post seemed to indicate that time was of the essence, and getting a refurbished machine (for WAY less than new I’ll point out) is much faster than trying to figure out what’s wrong.
