My lid assembly shattered when I accidentally dropped a 12 gram magnet from about 18" up. It was quite spectacular. The safety glass did its job… there are no pieces larger than a kernel of corn.
Pictures attached.
What do I need to do next?

Horrifying, and I’m amazed at the small weight that caused it !

My heart sunk for you.
Oh gosh, this is just tragic. I think I will keep a sheet of craft foam on my lid.
Oh, noooooo! How sad!
I am guessing that the magnet hit on an edge. I hate that it happened to you.
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that.
Unfortunately, we’ll need to arrange a repair or replace your unit with a refurbished unit.
I’ll reach out to you via email so we can get this sorted out right away.
I’m really sorry - we did a little research and the problem is that ceramics are extremely hard. You can hit the Glowforge glass with a hammer (I have, with a piece of spare glass to test it) but a very hard ceramic can focus force in a tiny area. Interesting read here:
