Replying by replying to their email is the way to go as that will be the record they keep. If their promise to stretch the warranty is in an email I would reply to that one instead as that is the record they will look at. I would also make sure your other machine is out the door as soon as possible and needed to keep in touch when there was any reason it did not.

On top of that, you have not even tested your machine to even know if there is a problem. I had a very similar set of issues and they did not extend the warranty but were very nice about everything else. The machine has performed flawlessly for over three months in any case.
