Hi, I need help printing the image of handwriting on a bracelet.
I already use cermark to print on stainless steel successfully. I have found tutorials showing how to convert an image to svg in inkscape (in which I use trace bitmap and scan the image, ungroup, and choose one to save).
I believe I have done that part correctly, but when I pull up the image to print on my glowforge it doesn’t seem right. Is there a step I am missing in order to print the image on a piece of jewelry? I have tried searching the forum, so if there is a link please just post that. Thank so much.
Welcome!
I’m afraid that isn’t quite enough information to know how to help. Either a picture of a failed result or zipping the file and dropping it here so it can be analyzed, or both should work.
Check to make sure that you don’t have both stroke and fill defined. Often tracing adds more lines than you want. You can see the entire file in View > Outline mode and inspect it a bit better. The other thing that happens is you have one fill on top of another and that cancels out some things. It sounds like you are able to get the scan but there are some aspects of it that aren’t quite right.
You don’t have to use SVG. You can use JPG or PNG also and skip tracing. Try printing the file on a piece of scrap to make sure you’re getting the quality you want.
There is lots of discussion in the forum about resolution and artifacts in bitmaps if you swatch.
