New hardwood delivery from Kim Oberlin

None of my non-GF friends will appreciate this…

Kim just sent me an order of some bookmatched walnut (3 pairs)…

Some curly maple…

and some hard maple.

Pretty psyched.

Thank you. At least someone appreciates this. My sister was like “uh… great…?”

The hard maple would be lovely with just an oil finish and mounted on the wall. :slightly_smiling_face:

Looks like what people try to achieve with bathymetric models.

This whole thing started as a PM to you, but then I decided to post it. You are one person I know will appreciate weird grains

Beautiful. Woodgrain is some of nature’s best art.

That bottom one already looks like a bathymetric map. Gorgeous. :sunglasses:

What will they become?

Add another chorus of “ooh and aah!”

Who knows!

I think the bookmatched pieces might become doors on a hinged box of some sort but I’ve yet to design it. I just want the booked pieces to face each other. Could be a pair of lidded boxes in a tray frame… I dunno!

Just let that creative noggin churn on it for a bit, and when it hits you… the inspiration will drive you. Can hardly wait to see what you come up with.

I am twitterpated! What do you have in mind? More beautiful boxes maybe?

Boxes are always possible. I have a couple designs I’m considering…
