So after going to the Renaissance Fair this past summer with the family, we all decided that we were going to start trying to do some kind of costume. Originally we were supposed to go this upcoming weekend to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair. However, unfortunately they sold out before I was able to get tickets. But that’s okay. No good costume goes unworn! This just gives me more time to get ready for Halloween. Exclamation
I found the busted pattern on Etsy, had to fix several parts of the pattern to make it actually work the way it was supposed to, so this took twice as long as I had hoped.
A few things I’m going to have to modify for this based off of how it looks now that it’s fully assembled: first and foremost, I need to make some small leather loops to hold down the straps when they are fully buckled.
The next thing I’m going to have to do in any future versions is do a little bit of skiving on the buckle attachments as those are very thick and it feels like they could potentially fall apart if the right stud is not used.
And then lastly, and I’m not entirely sure what the thought process was on this, but when it comes to the back corners of the straps as well as the buckle holds, I’m going to round those off in my pattern that I’ve redesigned in inkscape. Other than that I’m kind of happy with how it came out. Overall this was a great big project to get me back into the swing of things.
Till next time
Hock
