Nightlight - Lots of little cuts

A new nightlight design incorporating kerf-width cuts. I wanted to see how well the backlighting showed through the tiny slits in the veneer. I kinda like the effect, and I thought I’d share.

I love how this looks - when it is off as well as when it is illuminated.

This is really cool! The photo makes it look like it really pops. Photos don’t usually do things like this justice so I can only imagine what it looks like in person.

As you can probably see in the picture, my designs can suffer from the the most common problem with edge lit acrylic: the effect gets dimmer the further it is from the light source.

I don’t “engrave” the back. I use scores to reduce laser time. So, I’m working on ways to maximize the backlighting effect.

There’s a lot of trial and error (mostly error) but I’m learning, and I love making new designs.

Oh yes! Wonderful effect, and it gives you something to look at when the light is off. Do more of these!

I like it that you have something visual when it’s daytime. Very nice.
