No laser beam comming out

Hello… Im panicking, just cut a Caketopper perfectly well, and Im about to engrave a cutting board, and their is no laser, no light no beam dimming out… plis help, tell this easy to fix I want to cry…

Try cutting the gift of good measure to make sure it’s not your design.

You can’t always see the beam, especially when you’re engraving. Did you let it go to see if it marked the board?

Is this artwork you’ve used before? Have you checked to make sure your settings are correct? Sometimes if the laser doesn’t know what material you’re working on, the power level defaults to 1, which won’t make a mark.

Two common issues when nothing appears to burn: 1. if a vector, there are overlapping vectors that cancel out. 2. (more commmon) double check your power settings.

I’m so sorry you ran into trouble.

I extracted the logs from your Glowforge, specifically the prints right around the time this topic was posted, and I can see that the first bit of advice @marmak3261 gave seems to be the culprit here. I noticed that the designs from those prints have two filled shapes that overlap. Your Glowforge won’t print overlapping vector designs.

Please remove one of the copies, try the print again, and the engrave should be successful.

If you run into any other trouble, please open a new topic or email us at support@glowforge.com. We’re here to help!
