Wow! That is incredible!
Thank you!
The problem I’m seeing with this is that now I might have to change my whole course of thinking on the table I’m doing for my basement. Hmmph….
Honey! I need more tools.
she’ll go with that right?
Ha! Just say you’re trying to go timeless during a phase in history that needs creativity to stand against the winds of 2020. 10 years from now, we’ll remember the moment I got the tools I needed to preserver and this table is a testament to that; much thanks and love to you :).
Go with something epic or just get them and ask for forgiveness later :).
Really, really cool.
So cool
Holy cow! Wow!
OMG! I love that you made something BIG!
Great design and process.
Stunning result and so inspiring!
That is amazing. Thank you for sharing the process with us!
wow! Incredible! well done!
That turned out great! Thanks for sharing all of the in-process photos.
Just stunning! I love that the puzzle pieces mean you don’t have a solid break in the pattern either.
Gorgeous
That is amazing!!!
Would you be able to explain how that technique is done on a table without edges? This is fascinating and glad you shared your beautiful work and how you worked out the design. Bravo!
Certainly.
Flood Coat:
We used 32oz of epoxy for the 48" x 24" surface on each coat. You pour the epoxy in the middle of the table and gradually work the epoxy out to the edges. When you are happy with the coverage we do one final pass which then puts a little of the epoxy over the sides which we smooth out with our gloves.
To apply a 1/8" coat evenly, we use a trowel with 1/8" notches cut out. You can find them at Lowes or most hardware stores in the concrete area.
Depending on the epoxy, you can do a coat every 3 or so hours. Essentially, you need to wait until the epoxy is tacky to the touch, but hard enough that it doesn’t deform when you lightly press on it.
stone coat countertops have excellent videos on it as well as blacktail studios on youtube.
Hope that helps!
That really does help! I haven’t worked with epoxy yet and had thought about it on a project I was thinking of (not quite to your scale). Thank you!!
Absolutely beautiful!!!
Thanks for the link. I will check that out!
