Open source? Local Lasering?

I was looking through the forums after finding out about the bankruptcy and other things GF has been going through.

I remember back in 2015-2018 Dan mentioning not to worry that is the company closed that there was a plan in place to stop your machines from being bricked. I’d like to hear more about that plan now that we have had a bit of a scare. I would have for my $8000 machine to die while its still working and operational. I have been looking for that thread post but I remember it was a topic brought up in the past with the machine being “Cloud” dependent.

Glowforge personnel do not monitor this forum, so you may not receive any official information.

To my knowledge, nothing has changed. Dan bought the company out of bankruptcy and his statements about the machines remaining operational remain unchanged.

We’re still hard at work making your laser better than ever! Should something happen to it, the firmware is unlocked so there is an escape hatch.

@dklgood Is an excellent source of information for just about everything. And he’s mostly right about not monitoring the forums… Mostly
