Perforate 1/8" plywood or hardwood?

Hi there,
Wanted to see if anyone has used hardwood or plywood (PG) and successfully perforated it so that a person could cut a shape and then punch it out easily. I’m experimenting but curious if it’s been done before.

If you search “flat pack” I think you will find some examples.

Itty-bitty tabs on thin stock works and I think it’d be better than trying to make perforations.
