Anyone have a suggestion on how to prevent wood stain bleeding into the edges of engraved areas? Treat the wood first with a pre-stain conditioner?
Thanks!

Is the stain laser safe, so you could stain before engraving? That’s what I often do with paint.

Might not help so much with stain but doing a score around the engrave can help contain bleeds sometimes…probably works better with paint but it’s worth a try.

Thanks. That’s what I was thinking as well. It’s water-based. Just always like to stain after.
I will paint the sides of the engraving with an artist’s brush and clear to seal the open woodgrain.

Mask before engraving, seal engraved area with a clear acrylic spray before removing masking. Let dry fully before staining.
