Red Oak

So, I was able to get my hands a beautiful 11x 1 3/4 x19 inch piece of Red Oak. Then a customer at Market asked if I could make a block sign using his logo; an oak tree.
Here’s how it turned out:

I like it! The darker grain in the tree gives it a sense of motion, like wind in the branches.

Thanks! I also think it looks as if names are engraved instead of lines?

I thought that at first too!

Grain burn.
Something that would have ruined a lot of projects enhanced this one.
Weird how things happen.

Looks pretty good. Did you use the fonts in glowforge?

Thank you.
No. It’s from the Vectonator App on Mac

Sorry, the Vectonator App

Oak, especially red oak, is very bad about making the grain overemphasized. Yours worked out much better than is often the case. For others having strong masking well smoothed down will allow a darker stain that would make it more even.

Thank you. I am still learning myself!

Thank you. I started with the palm sander using 80 grit and worked my way up to 320 grit. The client loved it so I am pleased.
