Some time ago my wife had a fitness tracker which worked fine. The company went bust and pulled the server and now the tracker is useless.
Since we have to communicate with Glow forge servers what will happen if they go bust, do we end up with a box of parts? or can it run stand alone without servers.
This has been discussed before, and as far as I know there’s no ironclad answer. Parts of the firmware have been open sourced, and there is an independent project (status unknown) to make standalone software called openglow. You might want to start there, it’s run and populated by some forum expats, with a little crossover between there and here.
The tone is much more technical than here, you’ll probably dig it if you’re asking these questions.
