We just got our Glowforge yesterday and were doing our second cut today, and the button turned purple and it quit. The countdown continued but nothing happened. Has this happened to anyone? I’m pretty frustrated having invested in it and then having this happen immediately…

Yes, there have been purple buttons, for different reasons.
It is helpful to support if when you open a support ticket, like you just did by posting here - to include the date, time and timezone so they can zero in on the machine logs to see what happened. They will dig it up anyway, it just makes it easier for them.
