Settings for 3M 468MP adhesive sheets

I was unable to find suggested settings for cutting 3M 468MP adhesive sheets, so I worked it out myself and thought I would share:

Glowforge Pro
Cut: 360/36/1

I put a sheet of 110# card stock underneath as a placement guide and to verify that the power is correct.

I used these sheets from Amazon but any sheets labeled 468MP should work.

out of curiosity, what’s the use case for cutting just the adhesive and not the material with the adhesive attached?

Thanks for this info - seven years in between posts might be a record.

I have done that when I didn’t want the adhesive all the way to the edge. I take the cut path for the visible material and use “inset” in Inkscape to make a slightly smaller path. Several times but the one most often was for automotive “badges”.

Ah, yes. I was repairing a Ring doorbell camera that a bird had scratched the heck out of over the camera. Doing this required multiple layers: first a 3D-printed shim that provided a black background and covered the inner parts of the camera and then clear acrylic on top. No matter what I needed a separate cut piece of adhesive for the 3D-printed shim, so it was easier to just make 2 and lift the backing off with an Exacto knife.

 Has it been that long?!? It has been about a year since I last used my Glowforge because of other demands on my time so now I know it can sit for a year unused and start right back up!

It can sit, but the tube will eventually fail with age regardless of whether it’s used or not.

The predicted lifespan from the beginning was ~2yrs, but many of us got much more. I was one of the “founders”, mine gave out early last year.

I’m a founder as well, so mine is the same age as yours. How hard was the tube to replace?

I am also a founder and mine finally gave up just a few weeks ago after 7 years of great service. I am awaiting my new one. The tube cannot be replaced by a user/owner.

Or apparently by GF either as they can no longer refurb machines :grinning:

Per a copy of an email somewhere in here that’s because they’re moving locations - the refurbs should be back once that’s finished.

They’ve been “moving” for a few months now. Typically when moving locations or suppliers you get the new location operational before shutting down the old one. Unless you have no real intention of firing up the new place.

Tbf, this is what happened before. It was several weeks a few months before refurbs became available again. I also don’t remember any warning last time either. It was just, eh no refurbs for now. We’re moving shop.
Wasn’t there a hiccup when moving manufacturing too or have I created that scenario in my head?
