I have done that when I didn’t want the adhesive all the way to the edge. I take the cut path for the visible material and use “inset” in Inkscape to make a slightly smaller path. Several times but the one most often was for automotive “badges”.
Ah, yes. I was repairing a Ring doorbell camera that a bird had scratched the heck out of over the camera. Doing this required multiple layers: first a 3D-printed shim that provided a black background and covered the inner parts of the camera and then clear acrylic on top. No matter what I needed a separate cut piece of adhesive for the 3D-printed shim, so it was easier to just make 2 and lift the backing off with an Exacto knife.
Has it been that long?!? It has been about a year since I last used my Glowforge because of other demands on my time so now I know it can sit for a year unused and start right back up!
I am also a founder and mine finally gave up just a few weeks ago after 7 years of great service. I am awaiting my new one. The tube cannot be replaced by a user/owner.
They’ve been “moving” for a few months now. Typically when moving locations or suppliers you get the new location operational before shutting down the old one. Unless you have no real intention of firing up the new place.
Tbf, this is what happened before. It was several weeks a few months before refurbs became available again. I also don’t remember any warning last time either. It was just, eh no refurbs for now. We’re moving shop.
Wasn’t there a hiccup when moving manufacturing too or have I created that scenario in my head?
