Sharing a family heirloom

When my Great Grandmother was in her 70s, she took a writing class. One of the assignments was to write up her recipe for happiness. She had it calligraphed, and the result is a piece that is loved by my family. Since we cannot all inherit the original, my Grandfather and I conspired to give everyone their own not-quite-original copy for Christmas.

The engraved text is based on a scan of the original. I designed the frame. The project is made from basswood mounted on walnut ply.

The frame is beautiful, and something tells me I would have liked to know your great-grandmother very much. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you! It was inspired by the calligraphy strokes.

I wish I had had more time to know her myself.
