Scratch paper is neat! Have you tried it before?
What is scratch paper? Sandpaper? Looks great!
Paper typically used for kid art. You “scratch” off the outer coating (often black) to reveal the color below. Fun stuff. Laser wirks as well as a stick to remove the top layer.
What they said^ lol. It starts black then is made to hand scratch off like a lottery card then shows color.
Here’s a multi colored one
Oh! Okay, I know what you’re talking about now. I think using a laser on it is really cool, especially if you have some paper that has multi-color underneath. That would make some really pretty designs.
I tried to get into this stuff but my grandson developed the ability to chew through dozens of pages per hour. So, as with the 2-tone gel pens, i surrendered to the joy of children.
How neat! I have a bunch of this stuff for my grandkids but didn’t think about using it in the laser!!
A cool effect for sure!
That is super-cool!
We used to make our own as a kid, paint on paper then black wax crayon… I remember lots of hippie/reggae designs…
I used to make my own as well. Before being introduced to the commercially produced paper, my aunt showed me how to make it with crayons or oil pastels after i was impressed by a piece she did in an art class.
For a few more posts on scratch paper:
Quite lovely.
With that design the gold one really pops
we have two pieces of professionally made scratchboard from an artist at the torpedo factory in alexandria, va.
first was commissioned by my wife, a portrait of our last dog. she spent time hand coloring it afterward.
and one that i bought for my wife.
I’m gonna be real naive and ask “What now?” It’s paper, not wood. What are you going to do with it? Glue it to wood and frame it? Put it on a stand? … I’m sorry, but this is a whole new concept for me and I don’t understand. Offline contact would be just fine.
Typically framed, in my experience.
As a kid they were just for fun in school, tossed unless we wanted to take home to our parents. But I’ve seen many framed ones - typically much larger…
