I made this sign for my therapist and when I de-papered it, the letters stayed put. Is there a way to keep it like that? Maybe spraying with polyurethane or something?
I don’t know about the polyurethane holding the letters, but I love the sign. Well thought out.![]()
After thinking about how to better attach the letters, I believe I would buy some super glue that had a very fine tip and carefully apply a small amount to the bottom edge of the letters and allow it to wick under the letters. I don’t think polyurethane would be sufficient.
I’m not sure I would use paper at all, I would laser the sign, paint the letters white, then sand off where you are sloppy with paint. This is a large sign split across 4 11” wide boards to fit on the glowforge
Next time take the tape mask off the letters. spray paint with just the letters showing and then take the rest of the masking off. The letters will be crisp and clean with whatever color spray paint you use.
This.
Masking is great at what it does. If you remove the letters first, and paint it, the bulk masking keeps from overspray and you end up with perfect edges.
