Made a quick and simple Christmas gift. However many years it’s been since launch and I still love the Glowforge.
I would be quite sad to not have it in my life… it’s as essential as a pair of scissors!
And I can’t accidentally cut myself
I am pretty certain I know how I could, but I never felt the need.
I wonder what what would feel like, though…
And it is much harder to run with than scissors. Although if you trip and fall easier to hurt yourself. So don’t run with your glowforge!
Wouldn’t it have been funny if it had paused between his legs and cut a quick gift of good measure before moving on…
It really hurts and right away too. It’s not like getting cut with a knife or something and you don’t feel it until you see blood. I burned a hole through my fingernail into my finger with a laser (Redsail while doing a beam alignment) and it hurt immediately so I was able to jerk back before it went all the way through
No blood from the lasered hole in my thumb but I did scrape my hand jerking it out of the machine and that did bleed
Twice I have put the needle in my sewing machine right thru a finger or thumb. It hurt going in, but pulling it out (have to lean over to unwind the spool with my left hand, then pull the thread back thru) was quite a bit worse.
Omg that sounds horrible. I can’t imagine what that would have smelled like, either. Eww. I guess like whatever cauterization must smell like.
Sorry @wenning08, I think we have quite spectacularly hijacked your thread!
Your pice is quite nice by the way. I can only assume they loved it!
Major fear of mine
Ooh nice! I have a friend who just gave birth a few months back so it’s a little early for this, but I’ll keep it in mind!
Smelled like burning leather.
One of the things GF users never worry about - adjusting the mirrors to get the laser beam centered. On other lasers that involves a lot of fire the laser, adjust, repeat. Everyone I knew would defeat the safety mechanism that prevented you from firing the laser with the lid open
