Size issues

Try saving as a PDF and importing directly into the GF. This works for me with SolidWorks as long as it is a drawing.

If you make your own scale of squares in Inkscape and print it directly and then measure it you should have a scale you can use to enlarge the Inkscape Svg before exporting it?

I think this would be a very bad idea. You want to find out what is causing the SVG export to have non-physical units. Fix that.

If I had the chops to do so I would write the fix in Inkspace, but meanwhile, it is a ā€œworkaroundā€

You misunderstand my meaning. People convert from Inkscape to properly dimensioned SVG all the time. There are settings that cause improper scaling.

Set the right settings and there’s nothing to work around.

I am still digging out where all the widgets are and I am sure that the details or the link to an explanation by other would be a way for everyone else who does not know to benefit

Post #5 on this very thread links to the tutorial on how to save properly to SVG from the major design programs.

This seems like the proper thread to bring this up, as I have experienced weird sizing on JPGs.

When i Save SVG files out of Adobe Illustrator and drag them in, they are ā€œTrue To Sizeā€ from everything I can tell. For example, a 1-in square will import at 1-in.

When I save JPGs out of Photoshop(greyscale for 3D engrave) they are at least 50% bigger than the size in photoshop. I’ll have to double-check exactly, but I was making 0.75-in squares and the file was coming into the GFUI at least around 1.25-in. Then I’d need to eyeball it down to 0.75-in.

Anyone else experience that?

I believe it has to do with the resolution of the picture in Photoshop. Try sizing your images in Photoshop at 96 ppi - they should come over as the correct size in the interface.
