This is my first attempt with engraving slate.
Came out grate! (Pun intended)
Thank you! LOL
Gouda give it to you, looks sharp!
We are all making a lot of cheesy jokes. Lol
That’s a nice cheese plate.
Have you seen other people’s slate projects? The one thing that I recall is that if you get oils on it your engrave will darken and maybe fade. So it is probably ornamental now, because cheese will ruin the engraving.
Yes, I have seen a couple of other peoples slate work. I put food grade mineral oil on it before and after I engraved it.
Interesting, the mineral oil post-engrave didn’t darken it?
It did darken it some after I put more oil on after engraving.
That is pretty dark. Looks right where I’d expect oiled slate to be.
The issue with the oils is that they dry over time and the contrast fades. I sold one slate with the caveat that she’d probably need to reapply the oil.
I figured we would have to oil over time. Thank You @ChristyM
What’s the size and where did you source the slate?
It’s 11 1/2" x 7 3/4"x 1/4…I got it on Amazon. It was $12.00
